1.14 The Apple Festival: Part Two

Isaac Allen Burns:

Hey, It's me, your GM, Isaac Allen Burns, here with another episode of DodoBorne. Now, this is a part two from the last week, so we don't have a lot of time. So we're gonna get right to the episode. Cue the music.

Annie Hawthorne:

Yes. I know Delilah.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I see, says Foswold. So you do retain some of your memories from before.

Annie Hawthorne:

I can't always activate them.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Curious. Perhaps if you come to Polaris, we can work on that.

Annie Hawthorne:

I look forward to

Isaac Allen Burns:

it. Very good. You learn how to do magic with those arcane gauntlets of yours, you shattered that crystal, and you prove to me you can do the magic, I'll personally write you a recommendation in.

Annie Hawthorne:

Thank you very much, sir.

Isaac Allen Burns:

He nods just as Hitchens is pulling out, like, a deck of cards, and they start to play a card game. And he, without dismissing you, seemingly dismisses you by turning his back to you.

Annie Hawthorne:

I stand there for a minute, and I just look at him, and I just look at the crystal that I have in my hands. And I'll, like, open up my locker chest and tuck it away really carefully, and then I'll go find my friends that I just left in the middle of the festival.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You open it up. You see a glimpse of that turnip there. You think back to the easy days, and then it closes, and you walk away. And eventually, the three of you are back together as Crank catches up to you too.

Rowan Collins:

Well, but there's also the Apple playground that specifically has, like, the bubble shaped apple

Joe Diametti:

Thing is for kids. Just that shield.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Crank doesn't wanna see the oh.

Rowan Collins:

Hey, Craig.

Joe Diametti:

Hey, Craig.

Rowan Collins:

Yeah. Craig, do you wanna see the bubbles? Like Of course,

Annie Hawthorne:

I wanna see the bubbles.

Rowan Collins:

See? See? See? It's not just for kids, Kapi.

Isaac Allen Burns:

But, yeah, you look around in a couple of the other games, your final ticket that reaches out to you, you see apple knockers.

Joe Diametti:

Mhmm.

Isaac Allen Burns:

So you look over, you see there's a bunch of targets, and you have to throw an apple to hit each of the targets. Oh, yeah. Let's seems like it would take some strength.

Joe Diametti:

Let's go. Sounds good. Before even seeing it, the rest of them

Isaac Allen Burns:

I don't need them. You walk over to apple knockers Yeah. And you see

Rowan Collins:

He really likes his knockers.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You see a little farmer guy.

Joe Diametti:

He does love his knockers.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You see this you see this farmer boy who's there and says, step right up to Apple Knockers. See if you can hit the three targets with these here apples.

Joe Diametti:

Yep. So I take the three apples.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Very good. Alright. You hit these different targets here. This one will require instead of a DC based on one roll, this one is going to be three strength rolls.

Joe Diametti:

Three strength rolls? Indeed. What if What if? I I actually feel bad for us. Just like all we're working way too hard to play these cards.

Isaac Allen Burns:

No. This is great. No. What are

Joe Diametti:

you gonna do? I wanna I wanna use rain of blades. I wanna spend a hope to conjure wait.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Conjure?

Joe Diametti:

Conjure. I know how to say this word. Want to spend a hope to conjure throwing blades that strike. This is enemies, but we can pretend this is things. Right?

Joe Diametti:

Very close to you.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You know, in this case, this target is an enemy.

Annie Hawthorne:

It's your enemy. Your mortal enemy.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. So what am I using? I'm throwing the apples, though. Right? Yeah.

Joe Diametti:

But I wanna use yeah. So I wanna use the rain of blades with it's gonna be rain of apples.

Isaac Allen Burns:

This is incredible. If you spend that hope, I will lower the DCs of these.

Joe Diametti:

Okay. So I spend the hope. There it is. I'm down to three hope over this bit. And I I pull out the ring and, you know, it glows red.

Joe Diametti:

So this is a spell cast roll. 14 with fear.

Isaac Allen Burns:

14 with fear. You watch as these apples soar through the sky. Don't mind me updating a quick number here. Actually, no. I'm gonna use this fear, actually.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'm gonna use this fear in a

Joe Diametti:

way that I can't wait. Why are you grinning like that?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Oh, no. So you throw these apples, and the first two hit the targets are kinda, like, in further distances away, and one fell swoop three apples fly through the air. One of them hits the first target. The second one hits the second target, kind of off center, but still there. Third one, though, kind of overcompensates and goes really far, goes beyond the target.

Isaac Allen Burns:

But someone was watching and catches the apple. And speaking of knockers, you do see Nefany standing there holding the apple and just looks at you and gives a wink and takes a bite out of the apple before she strides over to you.

Joe Diametti:

Hey, Nefany. How's Hi. How's how's the watch going?

Isaac Allen Burns:

The patrol's going really well. Right now, the the two the guards are shifting right now. So everything looks clean. They've been checking all the people coming in and no one seems all too suspicious, though. Couple of VIPs have entered the town.

Isaac Allen Burns:

We can't confirm.

Joe Diametti:

Perfect. Perfect. You're doing you're doing excellent work.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Thank you. I can say the same about you. You've organized quite a thing.

Joe Diametti:

You know, I'm I'm nothing if not organizable.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You know, if we need to, we can stop by headquarters and sort of do a little more communication on any next steps that we need Yeah.

Joe Diametti:

I I would love cover Pistachio's ears. Yes. I I think if we make it through this day, I think you and I will have a lot to celebrate.

Annie Hawthorne:

There's no guarantee that everyone's gonna make it, though. What?

Joe Diametti:

No. Nothing,

Rowan Collins:

Pistachio. Pistachio's trying to rest happy hand off of their head. Like

Joe Diametti:

No. No.

Rowan Collins:

I can listen. I'm an adult. Can't be.

Annie Hawthorne:

Stephanie, I just think you should prepare yourself. It's absolutely possible that any one of us could die.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. In the in the in the grand scheme of things, crank here. Real, real philosophical with this one. You know? This one's always always talking about the inevitable end, you know, really, really makes you think.

Rowan Collins:

Yeah. Quake just found out that things can die for no reason at all. Nothing interesting happened, but Quake did find out about the mortality of fleshy things.

Joe Diametti:

Oh, god.

Rowan Collins:

Say, Duffy, how how have you been? How how how how is Kapi? Anyway She's

Isaac Allen Burns:

just kinda watching with a wry smile and looks at you, Kapi, and just sort of takes another bite of the apple.

Rowan Collins:

Oh,

Joe Diametti:

my gosh. Yeah. Kapi just kind of shrugs, are gonna do with him? You know? What are gonna do?

Isaac Allen Burns:

She chuckles and, like, presses herself into you for a second and gives you a squeeze Oh. And says

Rowan Collins:

Oh.

Isaac Allen Burns:

One thing that'll never die is my passion for you, Kapi. So you gotta stay alive for me. Okay?

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yep.

Rowan Collins:

Pistachio does, like, start looking up at the thing and goes, this, perhaps I am too young for. This, perhaps, I am too young for. I think I'm older than most things, but god.

Isaac Allen Burns:

She takes a nibble off of your earlobe No.

Joe Diametti:

Kathy, and then starts

Isaac Allen Burns:

to walk away.

Joe Diametti:

Goosebumps. You know what? I would like Kathy right now.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I want you to take that d 20. 20? I want you to roll that d 20. Uh-huh. And I'm gonna say you wanna roll because I'm mean.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'm gonna say you need to roll a 12 or higher. So go ahead and roll that d 20. Just tell me what you roll.

Joe Diametti:

A 16.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Okay. 16. Very good. Kapi, after that happens, as Nepheny walks away, you do a scan of the area, and it seems like no one was paying attention or saw that. The two of you especially look around, and it does not seem like Scarlet is around.

Rowan Collins:

Can can we have a little, like, huddle real quick? Just like

Rowan Collins:

a little little tiny huddle.

Joe Diametti:

Breaks over.

Rowan Collins:

No. It can't be. I really I it's just a really quick thing.

Joe Diametti:

Need checked in with the rats?

Rowan Collins:

I have, but this is really quick.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Hey. So are you two gonna this ticket's good for three people. Do you two wanna step up and try this?

Joe Diametti:

I got some I got a bunch of kids. I got a bunch of kids. I pushed I pushed them in front as I back up.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Alright. Here's your three apples. Who's coming up first?

Rowan Collins:

I push crank first.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Lot of shoving. Hey. No shoving. We can we everyone can get a turn. No need to hurt.

Isaac Allen Burns:

No need to rush.

Annie Hawthorne:

Okay. I'll throw them.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Alright, tall guy. Here you go. I have these three apples. Go ahead and give me three strength checks unless you wanna try some crazy bullshit.

Annie Hawthorne:

My strength based build, I'm gonna stick with it.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Sounds good. Here we go. Number one.

Annie Hawthorne:

That's a crit.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Oh my god. Okay. We'll say the we're gonna say you throw yours so hard. It splits in half halfway through and hits two of the targets. So now I only need to make one more throw.

Annie Hawthorne:

Wow. 15 with hope.

Isaac Allen Burns:

15 with hope. You would you believe that the DC for the third target was indeed 15? You throw that apple, and it hits square in the center and hear a ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding. And that's the sound of the guy behind the table saying that with his mouth, and he hands you a potion.

Joe Diametti:

What? I didn't get any

Isaac Allen Burns:

You didn't get all three targets. In fact, you almost hit a civilian with your third throw there. Peacekeeper. Yeah. Well And then you

Rowan Collins:

almost stuck your tongue in her mouth, I say, as I throw

Joe Diametti:

Pistachio, would you rather me talk to Nethany or your mom?

Rowan Collins:

I've already thrown. I'm ignoring you. What is

Isaac Allen Burns:

the lesser of two evils?

Rowan Collins:

It was 17 for my strength throw with fear.

Isaac Allen Burns:

So was that your first throw?

Rowan Collins:

Yep.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Awesome. The first throw hits that target. Go ahead and roll your second one.

Rowan Collins:

Pistachio goes and is thinking really, really hard between Nefany and their mom. That's a 21 with fear.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Oh my gosh. Incredible.

Annie Hawthorne:

Lots of fear.

Joe Diametti:

Lots of fear. This almost feels like the whole goal was to just generate fear from us by playing so

Rowan Collins:

many. Throw the second one. You think they're thinking about it, and they just go, Kapi, I would just rather you say what you feel to Scarlet.

Joe Diametti:

Oh.

Rowan Collins:

And the last one's a crit.

Joe Diametti:

Oh my god.

Isaac Allen Burns:

The third one, the apple bounces off of the target after hitting a bull's eye flips in the air and lands in your hands. And the guy's like, well, I guess you can keep that apple.

Rowan Collins:

And they crunch it.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Nice. Tastes good, doesn't it?

Rowan Collins:

It does. It does taste good. Thank you.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Here you go. You can have a potion, which as I said, which I didn't get a chance to say before, this is a bolster potion. That's right. The next time you drink it, you get a plus one to your next drinks check.

Rowan Collins:

Nice.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Yeah. That's right. Ain't that cool?

Rowan Collins:

That's pretty cool.

Isaac Allen Burns:

That's some palmologist magic right there. That's right. Alright. Anyways, I got other customers too. Now y'all can get out.

Joe Diametti:

What is your obsession with Scarlet? Who?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Me? Oh, you're not telling me. Never mind.

Joe Diametti:

My just more of a adventure guild thing.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Okay. I'm sorry. Sorry. I'll step out of the way now.

Joe Diametti:

Unless are you obsessed with Scarlet?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Who? Oh, you're Scarlet? Scarlet Apple people? Oh, yeah. She's hot.

Joe Diametti:

Hey. Hey. Woah. What? Watch your tone.

Joe Diametti:

I will I will destroy this whole setup you got.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Woah. Okay. I mean Alright.

Joe Diametti:

You see this giant halberd I have? Woah. Shit. I

Isaac Allen Burns:

didn't I you know, I've been It's not that

Rowan Collins:

he's with you're obsessed with Scarlet. It's that he's obsessed with Scarlet.

Joe Diametti:

He just calls Scarlet hot.

Rowan Collins:

Yeah. She's hot.

Joe Diametti:

I know she's hot, but he doesn't need to say it like that. Did see how he said it? No respect. Look. Have respect, sir.

Joe Diametti:

You're children around.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Did you just make out with a peacekeeper just

Joe Diametti:

a second ago? The peacekeeper made out with me. Very different.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I don't know, dude. You looked into it.

Annie Hawthorne:

I'm into a lot of things.

Rowan Collins:

He's into a lot of things, including my mom. So, like Oh,

Isaac Allen Burns:

my man. High five.

Rowan Collins:

Oh, no. Thanks. It's about my mom.

Joe Diametti:

Don't think I forgot about the Scarlet thing.

Rowan Collins:

Oh my. Kapi, I just feel like you you're talking about the impermanence of man and all that good stuff, and I just think it's

Joe Diametti:

very important. You you just said I've at least one word I don't know.

Rowan Collins:

Okay. Okay. But Pistachio looks at Crank and goes, I gotta tell him. Gotta tell him what? I gotta tell him.

Joe Diametti:

You gotta tell me what?

Annie Hawthorne:

Oh. Oh. Oh. We were not supposed to tell him anything, though.

Rowan Collins:

No. But he's our boss. He's gonna go this whole day without seeing her.

Annie Hawthorne:

Oh, I guess you're right. Maybe we should tell him.

Rowan Collins:

Pistachio looks at Kapi.

Joe Diametti:

Kapi is starting to feel like maybe he doesn't this doesn't there's no way this goes well for him. And I think he has those radars, so he's just I I think the Kapi. Mayor needed protected.

Rowan Collins:

I Kapi.

Joe Diametti:

I just I think I'm gonna try to run.

Rowan Collins:

Alright. Okay. If Kapi tries to run

Joe Diametti:

Alright. I'm trying to run.

Rowan Collins:

Okay. Pistachio.

Joe Diametti:

I'm going to take off. I'm going to sprint.

Rowan Collins:

Going

Joe Diametti:

With my oversized

Rowan Collins:

Oh my god. If Kapi's gonna run and Pistachio's gonna try and tangle him up with some

Annie Hawthorne:

more vines. Okay.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Alright. What does that look like?

Joe Diametti:

Alright. What what can I do

Rowan Collins:

to prevent it? So it's a spell cast roll against you.

Joe Diametti:

Okay. So what do I do?

Rowan Collins:

What's your evasion?

Joe Diametti:

Oh, evasion's 12.

Rowan Collins:

Okay.

Joe Diametti:

Okay.

Rowan Collins:

My spell cast check was a 13. Okay. So I feel like the vines shoot up and, like, entangle a get around Kapi and just like

Isaac Allen Burns:

Not

Joe Diametti:

cool, kid. I am your boss.

Rowan Collins:

I know. You're my boss, but you need to listen

Annie Hawthorne:

to me.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'm not

Joe Diametti:

listening. I don't wanna hear that.

Rowan Collins:

Okay. I feel like Pistachio's, like, trying to, like, put their little tiny hands on Kapi's face and goes, Kapi, Scarlet may not make it out of this festival single. What? She's engaged. No.

Rowan Collins:

They're forcing an arranged marriage, Kapi. This is your last date.

Joe Diametti:

Forcing an arrangement.

Rowan Collins:

Her father.

Joe Diametti:

With who?

Rowan Collins:

With Craig, who was it?

Annie Hawthorne:

The Viscount's son.

Rowan Collins:

That was it. Nephew.

Annie Hawthorne:

The Viscount's nephew.

Rowan Collins:

Viscount's nephew.

Joe Diametti:

What?

Rowan Collins:

They're forcing her to get married to the Viscount's nephew. Kapi, this is your last shot.

Joe Diametti:

Oh. Yeah. Kapi's just reeling. Like, the whole like, his sound goes out in tunnel vision, and I think he just passes out in the vines. Just

Annie Hawthorne:

I catch him before he hits the ground. As

Isaac Allen Burns:

that happens, vines appearing out of the ground from a chase has caused a bit of a commotion, so a bunch of people are looking at all of you. And you definitely did say that out loud to a bunch of people. You hear someone whisper like, Scarlet's getting what do you need? Scarlet's getting

Rowan Collins:

Scarlet's shot. And

Isaac Allen Burns:

at that point, you see the people who respond to the commotion, which in this case was two of the people who were patrolling around. If you couldn't guess, one of them was Nepheny. And another one we're gonna say is Miles comes charging into the scene seeing vines, and Nepheny fully tackles you to the ground, Latashio, and says, what is the meaning of this? What's going on? Why are we casting magic?

Annie Hawthorne:

I grab her by the bag of her coat or whatever, and I yank her off, and I say, don't touch my friend.

Isaac Allen Burns:

She you yank her up off of the ground, and she, like, smacks your hand away and says, you all are causing a commotion, and you need to cease right now.

Annie Hawthorne:

We will cease, but cease putting your hands on my friend.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Cease wrapping vines around one of your companions.

Annie Hawthorne:

Well, our companion maybe should cooperate with us.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Kapi, why isn't he cooperating with you?

Annie Hawthorne:

He's unconscious.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I Why isn't Kapi cooperating?

Annie Hawthorne:

The vines were for his own safety. We were trying to prevent him from falling over because he is dehydrated and hasn't had enough apples today.

Rowan Collins:

Yeah, He hasn't had enough apples today. You've been spending too much time on his mind. Okay?

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'm on his mind. Yes.

Rowan Collins:

You're on his mind, Nefety. And we needed to wrap him up because he was dehydrated and was gonna pass out. Okay?

Annie Hawthorne:

We have this all under control. Thank you.

Rowan Collins:

We have this all under control. I will disperse the vines. I'm sorry. No more vines unless something bad happened. But please, would you mind at least giving him some space so he could get some water in him?

Rowan Collins:

I don't know what you've been up to.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'll take care of him. I'll get him some water. No. Don't worry, everybody. She kinda turns to the crowd.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Everyone, it's fine. Nothing happened. Disregard anything you heard or saw. The festival is just fine. See, her and Miles are, like, kind of, like, getting in the crowd.

Isaac Allen Burns:

She's gonna walk over to Gappy and, like, pick them up very easily.

Annie Hawthorne:

What did I just say about putting your hands on my friends?

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'm not the one who wrapped him in a bunch of vines.

Annie Hawthorne:

Those aren't hands.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Well, he's passed out because of your actions when you all are supposed to be leading the defense of this. So whatever personal problems that you have with each other, you need to solve it in ways that are a little more healthy. I would know.

Annie Hawthorne:

Well, we're gonna go do that, and I'm just going to grab on to Kapi and try to pull him in the other direction.

Joe Diametti:

No. So Let go of him. I'm so proud of him.

Annie Hawthorne:

Let go of him.

Joe Diametti:

No. You ever let us You let

Annie Hawthorne:

go of him.

Joe Diametti:

We're gonna do an oppose straight chair. I'm not I'm not a fritter. I'm not some fritter. Your chair. Paws off.

Annie Hawthorne:

Can I use my you've got a friend in me experience because Kapi's my friend, and I don't want her to take him?

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'm gonna say yes. I will say she rolled really well, so you have to be an 18 on this.

Annie Hawthorne:

Oh, Jesus. Got a friend. Hang on.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'm gonna say, yes, you can use you have

Joe Diametti:

a friend to me

Isaac Allen Burns:

because Kapi is your friend. I believe I would believe Crank would believe that Kapi is his friend.

Joe Diametti:

I'm pulling for you. Joe. Joe is pulling for you. I'm scared. I'm actually really scared to go alone.

Rowan Collins:

Oh, can I actually

Rowan Collins:

assist

Rowan Collins:

with this in a way? Can we do, like, an assist maneuver where I'd, like, add my hope to help?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Sure. Do you wanna grab on?

Joe Diametti:

This is how we're gonna spend them. The one move hope

Isaac Allen Burns:

to help Kathy get pulled away.

Rowan Collins:

Well, I guess we could see how it works and then yeah.

Joe Diametti:

I don't know if that is. I think

Isaac Allen Burns:

you have decide. Right now.

Joe Diametti:

I think you have to decide before the roll.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I agree. You have to say it right now.

Joe Diametti:

I don't

Annie Hawthorne:

think it's worth it. Let me just let me just try. Okay. Okay. Alright.

Annie Hawthorne:

I'm just gonna roll it.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Oh. Messy. No. What do we got? Who do got?

Annie Hawthorne:

That's a 9 with hope. Oh,

Isaac Allen Burns:

with hope.

Annie Hawthorne:

I rolled a 3 and a 2. Was very close

Isaac Allen Burns:

to that. Rolled with hope, so it's better than you were expecting. So 9 unfortunately fails. She's able to, like, get wrist control and get Kapi away from you. She's sort of holding him, kind of fireman carrying style, and Miles comes up behind and says, hey.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I'm sure there's enough of Kapi that can go around. Let's just put the boy down. And he slaps Kapi really hard. Kapi, you wake up. You're being held by Nethany.

Annie Hawthorne:

Is he still wrapped in vines?

Isaac Allen Burns:

We're gonna say the vines have broken up

Joe Diametti:

right now. Hi.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Hey there, Cap. Are you doing okay? Yeah. Me, Miles. I'm talking

Joe Diametti:

to now. Oh, hey, Miles. Hey. Yeah. How's how's how's the bar?

Isaac Allen Burns:

You know, bar's pretty full right now. I got a couple of my friends kinda running it right now. We just were checking in because seems like y'all gotten a little kerfuffle, a little bit of an ado.

Joe Diametti:

Oh, it's just, you know, training.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Oh, you were train this was test.

Joe Diametti:

You were testing this. Yeah.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Nice. Smart.

Joe Diametti:

Oh, I see you, Kathy. Yeah. I see you, Miles. And I I knew you would see me seeing you. I knew I knew I'd see you CNBC any way.

Joe Diametti:

And that's why we see each other. That's why I think so well, Miles. Yeah.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Yeah. Fist

Joe Diametti:

bump. Fist bump. I do the little, like, explosion thing.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You do the explosion thing. That's, a cool thing that you know Miles do?

Joe Diametti:

Yeah.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Miles is like, let's chill, dude. Alright. Well, Stephanie, why don't we put him down and we can all take a deep breath? Yeah. Stephanie kinda puts you down and kinda like straightens out your jacket and everything and like brushes your shoulders off and says, are you okay?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Did they hurt you?

Joe Diametti:

No. No. Are you can't hurt me? No. Okay.

Joe Diametti:

No.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I was just so worried about you. You were all wrapped up in vines.

Joe Diametti:

You passed out like you had

Isaac Allen Burns:

seen something or heard something terrible.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. Something terrible. There it is. There what is?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Don't worry. She leans in to kiss you.

Joe Diametti:

I I guess I kiss back. Oh, no. Oh, no. I I don't think it's a very enthusiastic one. It's one of those like

Rowan Collins:

No. No.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I You kiss each other, and Miles and Nephany walk away. And can one of you that isn't Kapi make a

Joe Diametti:

instinctual? Trent.

Isaac Allen Burns:

No. Pistachio, you turn around, and you see someone who was in the crowd is Scarlet who is looking at all of this.

Rowan Collins:

Oh, no. Scarlet. What? Hey, Kapi. Not to make the situation any worse than it already has been, but there goes there goes Scarlet having just seen you Macclips with a lady that isn't her.

Joe Diametti:

Pistachio, what? There's if she's gonna get married, she's getting married.

Rowan Collins:

You're not gonna go after her?

Joe Diametti:

Go after Pistachio, I know you think you're helping. How many how many times? We we have one job today. You throwing vines at your fellow adventurers. Can you just do me a favor and just make sure that we get through today?

Joe Diametti:

And when we get our recommendation, we'll go our separate ways. Okay? Just can you do that for me?

Rowan Collins:

Yeah. Yes, boss. Pistachio just kinda straightens up and, like, walks off.

Annie Hawthorne:

You know they really look up to you. Right? You shouldn't talk to them like that. I'm sorry about Scarlet, but you really shouldn't take it out on Pistachio. I'm gonna go after Pistachio.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Crank walks away towards Pistachio, leaving Kapi alone. Pistachio, you're walking away, and you hear some heavy footsteps approaching you.

Rowan Collins:

Pistachio can pretty much think it's Crank, but Pistachio's just gonna keep walking. I think they're heading towards the tavern this time. Yeah. I think this is the first time that Pistachio's like, need a drink.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Very good. You head off towards the Aphid Tavern, which is your classic haunt, and also was established to be just down the road from the bakery. Yes. And sure enough, Pistachio, as you pass by the bakery, you see Scarlet inside already back to work, working almost twice as fast as you would imagine. But as you step inside the tavern, you see there's a couple of people inside the tavern.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Obviously, any restaurants during the festival are doing gangbusters right now, but there are two seats up at the bar from two people who stumble away having delicious cider. Yeah. You're able to get up. One of the younger bartenders comes up. It's a fawn with, like, red fur.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Mhmm. Goes by Knuckles. And he's like, I'll fill you up. There you go. You like you're the one who likes milk.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Right? You want something different? You look kinda bummed. How'd you like some cider?

Rowan Collins:

Yeah. Decide. Could you do, like, a half and half?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Half cider, half what?

Rowan Collins:

Milk.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Milk? You know what? Just for you, I'd do that. Yeah. That sounds good.

Isaac Allen Burns:

That sounds

Annie Hawthorne:

Sounds like it'll curdle.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You yeah. He comes out with just the worst thing ever and puts it in front of you.

Rowan Collins:

And Pistachio doesn't care. They just, like, shoot it back, and they, like

Isaac Allen Burns:

Was it was it good? Did you like that?

Rowan Collins:

Nope. I don't think

Isaac Allen Burns:

was try

Joe Diametti:

it now.

Isaac Allen Burns:

He goes at the back and makes one for himself.

Rowan Collins:

Go back with another one, please.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You got it. Uggles goes back with another one just as Crank comes in from behind you.

Annie Hawthorne:

I'm just gonna sit down with my one good audio receptor towards Pistachio, in case they wanna talk, but I'm not gonna push. I'm just going to be a nice little supportive presence.

Rowan Collins:

Pistachio shoots another one back and again goes.

Annie Hawthorne:

That doesn't look very enjoyable. Why are you doing it?

Rowan Collins:

Because people do a lot of things when they're upset.

Annie Hawthorne:

I

Rowan Collins:

don't understand, Craig. I'm just trying to help. And I feel like everything I do, Kapi I feel like he doesn't like me.

Annie Hawthorne:

I feel like Kapi doesn't like a lot of people.

Rowan Collins:

And I'm one of them. Right?

Annie Hawthorne:

I don't think that's any fault of you worse, though. I think Kapi's just emotionally constipated.

Rowan Collins:

What? I can see that. I can see

Rowan Collins:

that. But I didn't think he would hate me that much. I

Annie Hawthorne:

I don't think he does. I think he likes you when he's afraid of it.

Rowan Collins:

You think so?

Annie Hawthorne:

Yeah. I think he's very afraid of feelings. I mean, you've noticed he doesn't really have any friends. Right?

Rowan Collins:

But I just thought that's because people think he's too intimidating because he's really cool.

Annie Hawthorne:

Not that intimidating.

Rowan Collins:

He's not. He mostly flirts with people.

Annie Hawthorne:

Yeah. Very badly.

Rowan Collins:

Except for the people that he really shouldn't be flirting with, like my Bob.

Annie Hawthorne:

Your Bob. He has a thing for moms.

Rowan Collins:

Maybe he has, like, a mom thing. Does Kapi have a mom? Maybe he's looking for a mom.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Maybe he is, like,

Joe Diametti:

a mom.

Annie Hawthorne:

Maybe we should find Kapi's mom.

Rowan Collins:

Well, do you think maybe Cyrus would know what happened to Kapi's mom?

Annie Hawthorne:

Maybe. This

Rowan Collins:

does not sit well with my stomach.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You see that Knuckles comes back, and he writes on the board. It's called milk solid shot. Was half half cider, half milk. He was like, yeah. I'm really looking for shots that, like, create a texture, and, like, it curdles the milk so much that it creates milk solids.

Isaac Allen Burns:

That really gross, but it's, like, really textured. This is the next best thing.

Rowan Collins:

Yeah. Kinda like apple curds.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Apple curds. You wanna try one big guy? Oh, wait. You don't drink?

Annie Hawthorne:

Don't have an esophagus or a stomach, so I don't really think it would Oh, dang.

Isaac Allen Burns:

That sucks for you, bro.

Annie Hawthorne:

Yeah. I mean, that's all I've ever known.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Damn. That's hardcore. Write a song like that.

Annie Hawthorne:

Just going to, like, pat Pistachio on the shoulder. I'm just gonna say I wouldn't take it personally. He's just dealing with his own shit.

Rowan Collins:

Pistachio will lean over to a crank on their shoulder and go,

Rowan Collins:

maybe the reason he wants to get rid of us so much is because he does care, and he's afraid of that.

Annie Hawthorne:

I definitely think that's the case.

Rowan Collins:

Well, that makes me wanna love him harder.

Annie Hawthorne:

And the camera just zooms out of the two of us just

Isaac Allen Burns:

It zooms out, and it suddenly zooms back in as a little guy

Joe Diametti:

yells, delivery. Delivery. Delivery for one crank.

Annie Hawthorne:

How do they always find me?

Joe Diametti:

Hello. It's me Postmates. I'm here to give you a package. I missed Postmates.

Rowan Collins:

Postmates.

Isaac Allen Burns:

That's right. I've been taking all your business, crank. That's right. I've been getting the stale leftovers from the bakery and taking them around before you could get there. That's right.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I've cornered the market like I said I would.

Joe Diametti:

I have

Annie Hawthorne:

I have been distracted for a few days, so that's fair.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Oh, you've been distracted, have you?

Annie Hawthorne:

Yeah. I've okay? To do. I just have more important things to do.

Isaac Allen Burns:

More important? More important than business? How dare you? How dare you minimize all my hard work by saying what I'm doing ain't important?

Rowan Collins:

No. What you're doing is important. It's just not important to Craig.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Or are you saying this ain't important to you, Craig? You was my rival.

Annie Hawthorne:

Did you have a package for me or not?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Well, yeah, I did. Well, I was gonna gloat, and now it feels bad. So well, here you go. It's a little Apple stuffy from Timothy and Alana. They sent you a little Apple stuffy.

Annie Hawthorne:

Oh, how nice of them.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Yeah. Well, I guess it is nice. I can't I can't spin it in a way that makes me feel better. So I hope you're happy. Hope you're happy.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You took all the all the gloating sales out of me wins.

Annie Hawthorne:

I hope you're happy too, Postmates.

Isaac Allen Burns:

That means a lot. And he he turns, and he walks out. And then the camera zooms away Mhmm. And follows Postmates as the camera pans. And Postmates passes Kapi.

Isaac Allen Burns:

What's Kapi up to?

Joe Diametti:

Entering the bakery. Ding ding.

Rowan Collins:

Oh, yeah.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You enter the bakery, and it is a wildfire of people.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. Kapi's stone faced. He's on a warpath.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Walk in, and you see but sure enough, there's a couple of other people working behind the bar right now. You see that Karen is behind there taking lots of orders and a couple of people going back and forth, some of them making coffees and teas, a lot of people making different apple juices and ciders. And you see one person sort of giving out all the food as Scarlet. She is on point today. You can tell that her voice is caring, clean, and true as she yells over the din of people.

Isaac Allen Burns:

They've pulled in more tables, a lot more people just kind of sitting and milling about. But you walk in behind the line, and Karen sees you.

Joe Diametti:

It's just

Isaac Allen Burns:

kind of like, yeah, Carol. That's what I said.

Joe Diametti:

What'd you hear? Carol

Isaac Allen Burns:

says, well, hey there, Gappy.

Joe Diametti:

Oh, hi, Carol. Yeah. I'd like a Apple turnover today. Yeah. See, for years, I'd been coming in and getting a fritter, but I think I'm gonna try something different.

Isaac Allen Burns:

She sort of looks at you

Joe Diametti:

and kinda cocks an eyebrow and says, okay. Is Scarlet paying attention? I'm, like, basically, you're, like, yelling at Scarlet.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Scarlet is casting a mean side eye towards you

Joe Diametti:

Yeah.

Isaac Allen Burns:

But is sort of just, like, seemingly ignoring you until eventually she puts the bag in front and says, turnover.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. And I I grab the turnover, and then I hold it up. And I go, see, is is this what this is what you want? Just for me to do something different. Right?

Isaac Allen Burns:

I don't know what you're talking about.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. And and then I I I crumble it in my hands. My god. I go and here's the frustrating thing is that I don't I don't want this.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I want the fritter. Why did you order the fritter then?

Joe Diametti:

Because I I I don't know how to express things.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You don't what is Kathy, what do you want?

Joe Diametti:

What? You're getting you're getting married? Kathy, can we not talk about this at work for once? When? Can you come sometime when I'm not working, You're Anytime.

Joe Diametti:

You know when I get off? Nope. Seriously? You don't know when I get off? Get out, all of you.

Joe Diametti:

Out. Store's closed. Thirty minutes break.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Lisa Carroll kinda looks and is about to say something when you see that Scarlet goes out from over the counter and, like, grabs

Joe Diametti:

your wrist

Isaac Allen Burns:

and drags you to the back.

Joe Diametti:

That's good.

Rowan Collins:

Yes. Go, Scarlet.

Isaac Allen Burns:

She just drags you into the back into, like, the back office, and she says, Kapi, what is your deal? What do you want? I Why are you coming in yelling about my business?

Joe Diametti:

Because I wanna know why I wasn't owed an explanation.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I wanted to tell you, Kapi. Alright? But I wasn't I wasn't supposed to, and I didn't know what you would do because it had been so long. And I didn't think look. What do you what you want an apology from me?

Joe Diametti:

No. Oh. I I probably owe you an apology, Scarlett. You know, I think for a long time I wanted to get out of this town because you were successful. And I thought that if I could be successful and get out, then you would see something in me.

Joe Diametti:

But I think I might want to leave for other reasons now.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Tears are starting to well into her eyes and you know that she really hates it when that happens. So she's like trying to fight back crying and says, you didn't have to change for me. I I'm sorry that I I don't know. My dad made me break up with you. I know I've said it before, but I wanted to run this bakery, and he I picked it over you, and I'm sorry.

Isaac Allen Burns:

But you were always really nice.

Joe Diametti:

No. I wasn't.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Well, you made me laugh at least. You you can be nice. You just somehow don't think that you need to be nice. Where you you would always come into my workplace and just make it so much of a problem, and I would always hate it. But then it would just make me laugh afterwards because you're so awkward when you come in and talk to me when I'm working.

Joe Diametti:

You know

Isaac Allen Burns:

I hate it.

Joe Diametti:

I think I'm pretty cool. So yeah. Okay. Yeah. Ask Carol what she thinks of you being cool.

Joe Diametti:

Carol got the hots for me. She goes the damn day.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Have the hots

Joe Diametti:

for you, Kapi. You think every older woman who's nice to you just has the hots for you. To see one that doesn't. Carol is one that does not have the hots for you, Kapi. I hate to break it to you.

Joe Diametti:

Okay. Well, agree to disagree.

Isaac Allen Burns:

She she laughs. The kind of laugh that you can tell is, like, full of emotions that are being released and says, I don't know what to say, Kathy. I'm so I am I'm sorry that about what happened back then, and I'm sorry that I sort of assumed you would just stay in the same place.

Joe Diametti:

Do you want to get married? No. Well, is there a way that we can make this not happen?

Isaac Allen Burns:

I don't know. I was gonna talk to my father, but I'm afraid you know how he is.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. No. I don't think that's gonna work.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I was really mad when I saw you with that girl.

Joe Diametti:

Oh, shit.

Isaac Allen Burns:

That made me realize some things. And I'm gonna talk to him, and I'm gonna tell him that I don't wanna get married. I'm gonna tell him that I still wanna own this bakery and that he can shove it. Would you stand with me when I said that to him?

Joe Diametti:

Yes. Or what? I would I would love any excuse to tell your dad to kick rocks.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I know. So who is that that you were kissing? Oh. Who was that?

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. That's I don't maybe my girlfriend?

Isaac Allen Burns:

Well, good. Well Good.

Joe Diametti:

Good feels like a strong word. Scarlett, she scares me. I'm scared.

Annie Hawthorne:

What are

Isaac Allen Burns:

you talking about? I'm scared. What did you do?

Joe Diametti:

I thought I was being charming, but she she's like the older woman. She's got happy fever. Oh my And I I keep waiting for it to break and it's not breaking, Scarlett. I'm I'm a little nervous, but we need to get through the Apple Festival. And then and then I and then I think I'm gonna break it off.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Okay. Well, that's kinda shitty. But

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. No.

Isaac Allen Burns:

I think you need to figure that out.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. Definitely.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You should you should figure that out. I'm still mad at you, but I don't I know I don't really have a right to be because we were we've been broken up for a while now.

Joe Diametti:

Alright. Well, I gotta go do some apologies, I think, and sort some stuff out. Let me know when you're gonna tell your dad. I'll be there.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Okay. I will. And she kinda holds out a hand for a handshake?

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. He shakes her hand too.

Isaac Allen Burns:

She shakes your hand and kind of smiles and says, maybe we maybe you figure your stuff out, I'll figure my stuff out, and then maybe we can try again.

Joe Diametti:

I like that. Alright. And then I think Kapi leaves, but back through the front, and he grabs a fritter on the way out.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You go through the front door, and you get a fritter at the moment. You step out there. Carol looks at you and says, now look here, young man. You where did you get off yelling at all of our customers?

Joe Diametti:

Oh my god, Carol. Get in line.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Do you know how

Joe Diametti:

many women I have after me right now? I don't have time for this.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Gabby, what

Joe Diametti:

the you get back here. Ding. Ding. Ding. Ding.

Joe Diametti:

What's that?

Isaac Allen Burns:

You see Scarlet leaves and shakes her head at you, and you leave the bakery. And as you head off, you see coming up the street is two individuals who look like they've been drinking a little bit. And by they, I mean one of them, and that's pistachio because Crank can't

Joe Diametti:

drink. Uh-oh.

Annie Hawthorne:

Hey, kid. Trying to, like, keep pistachio from stumbling too much.

Rowan Collins:

If I believe oh, hey. Look. It's it's Gabby. Oh, see me right now. He wants to never see me again because I messed his life up.

Joe Diametti:

Do you let Pistachio drink on the job?

Annie Hawthorne:

Pistachio is an adult. They have free will.

Joe Diametti:

We have

Annie Hawthorne:

can't stop them.

Joe Diametti:

This is so tough for me, Crank. I know I know I'm supposed to apologize, but they're drinking on the job.

Annie Hawthorne:

We were on a break.

Joe Diametti:

This is not We were on a break.

Rowan Collins:

We were on a break. It's likely you're dating.

Joe Diametti:

Pistachio.

Rowan Collins:

What?

Joe Diametti:

Oh, alright. No. We'll do this later. We gotta sober Pistachio up.

Rowan Collins:

Pistachio has fallen and is like just like the sky, it looks

Rowan Collins:

real funny right now.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You see Hazel walks up.

Rowan Collins:

Oh, hi, Hazel.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Uh-oh. What'd you do to my sibling?

Rowan Collins:

Hi, Hazel.

Annie Hawthorne:

Your your sibling did this themselves.

Rowan Collins:

Oh, I have a new Drake named after us.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Alright. Well, I'm just here to give the report. No sign of that blue guy, and no sign of anyone still coming through the gates. Everything still seems pretty clean.

Annie Hawthorne:

Oh, well, that's good. Do you have anything that could sober statue up?

Joe Diametti:

Do I

Annie Hawthorne:

have any idea which stat being drunk affects?

Isaac Allen Burns:

We're gonna say all of them.

Annie Hawthorne:

Okay.

Isaac Allen Burns:

And you see that Hazel's gonna pull out a little flask of cold water

Joe Diametti:

and just pour it on top

Isaac Allen Burns:

of pistachio.

Annie Hawthorne:

I, like, put my potions away because I was just going to make pistachio drink all of

Joe Diametti:

my potions.

Rowan Collins:

Their their hair, which is curly, has, like, done the thing when curly hair gets wet and just, like, like, just goes straight. You know? They're like,

Isaac Allen Burns:

Okay. Well, you need to stop drinking on the job, Pistachio.

Joe Diametti:

You're on a clock now.

Annie Hawthorne:

We were on a break.

Rowan Collins:

We were

Rowan Collins:

on a break. Thanks, Hazel.

Joe Diametti:

Feeling better?

Rowan Collins:

Yeah. I'm feeling better. Are you feeling better, Kapi?

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. Alright. Let's get this over with. Pistachio.

Rowan Collins:

Kapi.

Joe Diametti:

Pistachio.

Rowan Collins:

Kapi.

Joe Diametti:

Pistachio.

Rowan Collins:

Kapi.

Joe Diametti:

Listen. Crank. Okay. I'm gonna use all of the maturity that I can muster to deliver this. Okay?

Rowan Collins:

Okay.

Joe Diametti:

Alright. So do you know how Crank never engages in, like, any fight even though when you kinda pick him, he doesn't engage? Kinda like Postmates. You remember Postmates?

Rowan Collins:

Yeah. We saw Postmates.

Joe Diametti:

Oh, you did? Yeah. Remember Postmates wanted to make Crank their arrival?

Rowan Collins:

Right.

Joe Diametti:

And Crank was just like, no. Like, Crank's that person who just doesn't fight with you even though you wanna fight.

Rowan Collins:

Well, Crank fights a lot, but, like

Joe Diametti:

Physically. Right? But not like

Rowan Collins:

Oh, okay. Right? Yeah. Yeah.

Joe Diametti:

You do get upset.

Rowan Collins:

Yes.

Joe Diametti:

And so when I want to have an outlet of being upset, it's easy to engage with you, which is not right of me. Okay? That is not right. I shouldn't do that. I know all you do is care and at the end of the day, that's just me being a bully.

Joe Diametti:

I hate that about me and I'd like to be better. That didn't sound sincere. I would like to be better And I'm sure you're gonna make a great doctor one day. Okay? And I think you could do better than whatever this relationship is.

Rowan Collins:

Kapi.

Joe Diametti:

Pistachio.

Rowan Collins:

Kapi.

Joe Diametti:

Pistachio. Kapi. Pistachio. Craig. Can

Rowan Collins:

I hug you?

Joe Diametti:

I yeah. I don't really hug good.

Rowan Collins:

And they, like, just, like, glomp onto you. And go, Kapi,

Rowan Collins:

you are also my best friend and I would like you to come with us. I know you probably have other ideas, but I would rather not let this be our last adventure.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. You're pretty good at hugging.

Rowan Collins:

I know. It's all of my extra fluff.

Joe Diametti:

Yeah. What about you, big guy? You want some of this action? Come on, buddy.

Annie Hawthorne:

I'll just wrap my massive arms around both of them, and I'll pick them up. Okay.

Joe Diametti:

And I'll spin them around. Human furballed organs furballed organs.

Annie Hawthorne:

Oh, no. I'll put them back.

Joe Diametti:

Oh, no. Yes. You guys, I I wanna be friends.

Rowan Collins:

Well, good news, Kapi. We're already friends.

Joe Diametti:

Okay.

Isaac Allen Burns:

So you eventually get back to your patrol after that was probably about two to three hours, little longer than a break. But, hey. It worked out. You feel you all I won't tell you how all of you feel, but I think that deep down inside, I think weights feel lifted from your shoulders as you walk your patrol once more. Eventually, it gets late into the night.

Isaac Allen Burns:

And by late into the night, I mean that as a 40 year old because it's about 07:30.

Joe Diametti:

Pretty late. The

Isaac Allen Burns:

sun has dropped over the horizon, and that good old springtime moon is up high in the sky as torch lights and lamps light up the streets, reds and greens and yellows. And at the main stage, do the three of you find yourselves? There are plenty of chairs and long benches that have been set up in front of the stage as this is where the inaugural speech by one Edgar Balthasar will take place. Seems like things have been going off without much of a hitch. I would assume y'all are standing kind of in the back, right, just so can get get eyes on everything.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Earlier that day, Melissa Martin, the senator, had returned to her room, citing a real bad headache from the amount of cider that she had drank. So she is not in attendance, but you see pretty much all the people you know. You see in one of the large benches, you see Timothee and Alana sitting there. You see the drupes. No sign of Cyrus anywhere, and no sign of Scarlet either.

Isaac Allen Burns:

You don't see Scarlet kind of hanging out. You also don't see any of the Apple people. But most of the other people are here in attendance. You imagine some of them may have just, you know, dipped out. They've heard the speech plenty of times.

Isaac Allen Burns:

And as it stands up, you see mayor Raisins gets up on stage and kinda clinks a glass and welcomes everybody and introduces the man of the hour, Viscount Edgar Balthazar, who's gonna come up and give a speech. Woo. Yay. Exactly. Standing up, you see this dwarven man who stands pretty tall, for a dwarf that is, and steps up and takes takes a stand at the podium.

Isaac Allen Burns:

They don't have microphones in this, so that he's just kind of letting his voice project. And he says, friends, family, those joining us for the very first time and those who have joined us plenty of times before, I'd like to welcome you here to the Bracken Road Apple Festival. Classic aurelio. This long honored tradition has always been an exciting cap off to our season of harvest. I'm so thankful that all of you are here to join us for this great day.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Unfortunately, my eldest son, Wolfgang Balthazar, was unable to attend today due to sickness, but my second son, Major Balthazar, kinda holds his hand up. You see the nicely dressed individual from before who stands up awkwardly and gives a little bow. He is here in his stead. Perhaps one day, he'll be able to give the speech. Anyway, this festival marks a time for us to stop and appreciate all of the hard work that we've done for this season and to see how far we've come.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Our stocks are full. Our apples are plump just like every year and every season. This festival is a time to see just how loved we all are, to see how much we mean to each other. It is important in life to be thankful for what we have, for who we have, and for who we love, and for those who love us. We remember the bonds we have all forged and the connections that we have established with one another.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Connections that not even the nine up above can part from us. I would like to point out that of our new neighbor, Jethane, has come to our fair country and to our very town, the first official time that a member of that neighboring nation has come on an official capacity to our country here, and they chose to do so at this festival. We thank them and thank everyone else who made this possible. Round of applause for all of our hard workers. This momentous occasion will not soon be forgotten.

Isaac Allen Burns:

At that, you three notice a sound on the air. You hear a bit of yelling in the distance, and the distant pop of what sounds like guns. You look over to where it's coming from. You look over to the right. It seems to be coming from the town hall.

Isaac Allen Burns:

No one else seems to have noticed it because it's very far away. And I would like the three of you, pick one person actually, to give me a instinct role, see who wants to try and see.

Rowan Collins:

My instinct is plus two, but I think Crank has an extra plus one right

Annie Hawthorne:

now. Yeah. But mine's only plus two with that. So

Joe Diametti:

Mine's plus zero.

Rowan Collins:

Alright. Alright.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Pistachio, you look over.

Rowan Collins:

18 with 18 with fear.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Fear. Incredible. You look over Pistachio, and the gunshots are coming from close to town hall. As you look, you see a figure climbing on top of town hall. It's kinda tough to make out, but at the very steep top of it, you see an individual kind of raising their arms up to the side, arms akimbo, much like a, you know, Christ the Redeemer down in Rio De Janeiro or whatever it is, maybe Brazil, somewhere in South America.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Doing that kind of pose, you see two horns from atop their head, and you can recognize the face of Ashe up above there. You also, with that 18, can see just the biggest smile on his face.

Rowan Collins:

Guys, Ashe is on top of the town hall.

Isaac Allen Burns:

On an 18 with fear, you also hear the creaking of boards. And you look over the stage to see Edgar Balthazar sort of finishing off his statement and he's raising a glass. And he says, raise a glass with me, a toast to our health, the future of our, and on that, an explosion resounds out. As he opens his mouth, the glass suddenly drops from his hand and shatters as a shock wave goes through the town. A plume of fiery smoke comes from the town hall building itself.

Isaac Allen Burns:

There's a moment of silence as everyone is trying to figure out what to do when suddenly a sword and then a second sword appear out of the chest of Edgar Balthasar. Coming out of an invisibility spell, you see someone dressed in very similar armor to what you saw on those two individuals around the senator. As Edgar Balthasar's eyes wide in surprise and blood begins to trickle down the side of his mouth, he falls to the ground as a voice rings out from the stage, death to Voldani dogs. Glory to Jethane. Pandemonium erupts almost immediately as people begin climbing all over themselves to get away from the stage.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Gunshots begin to ring out from the distant buildings as you hear kerfuffles occurring from all around town. Fires begin lighting up at certain points. And that is where we're gonna end this session of Daggerheart. Hey. It's a podcast.

Joe Diametti:

My goodness. Good job, everybody.

Isaac Allen Burns:

Oh my goodness. What a jam packed episode.
